I'm looking at starting a (mainly) healthy raw food diet, but it's soooo hard during these cold winter months.
Can anyone suggest a "comfort food" that will suit this diet? What's a good "winter comfort food" option for people on a (mainly) raw health food diet?

Is it okay for me to stay on a raw food diet?
I eat a variety of each food group from the Food Pyramid. When I mean by staying on the raw food diet, is by continuing to eat fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds raw till I'm dead. Is this okay ?Is it okay for me to stay on a raw food diet?
I'm not really informed on that whole area of vegetarianism/veganism. I do know however from purely interested reading in human evolution, that cooking vegetables allowed us to easier digest %26amp; absorb more nutrients from them from where fire aided in breaking down cellular walls that our teeth %26amp; digestion would of had to spend time doing otherwise.
Apparently a theory has been proposed (or a hypothesis i should say) that this would've allowed for bigger brain development alongside hunter-gatherers bird-egg robbing. Unfortunately there is no evidence of controlled use of fire around the time period when our brains got bigger hence why its attributed to meat or fish in other hypothesisIs it okay for me to stay on a raw food diet?
wait.. which pyramid?
(this is the V/V section dear.)
i've been a raw vegetarian for 43 years.. so i think it's ok.. i'm not dead yet and i look many years younger than what i am.. in good health and my libido is intact.
among other things. Is it okay for me to stay on a raw food diet?
If you feel ok and your doctor thinks you are getting all the proper nutriants, then why not?Is it okay for me to stay on a raw food diet?
It's okay with me.
I've been raw for about six years, and I don't plan on stopping.
Yeah!!! thats what I do!!!

What food do you give pups on the raw food diet?
they are 7 and 9 weeks and have been on dry kibble but would like to introduce them to a raw food diet what food should they be having. is it true that they will eat bones and such like. Advice on meat that should be given and other bits....i am researching online aswell but it is nice to have advice of people who are feeding this diet. What food do you give pups on the raw food diet?
I just visited the vet for my 8 week year old pup, and she suggested I introduce raw chicken wings, only because drumsticks have too big of bones. What food do you give pups on the raw food diet?
Best Raw Food Diet for Pups
The main food in raw meat diet for pups is meat itself. It is very important to provide your pet dog with meat every day. Normally, it is best to start with raw chicken, then slowly move to other types of meat including turkey, lamb, fish, pork, quail, rabbit, etc. You not only have to include the meat and bones of the animal, but also its other organs like kidney, liver, heart, etc. Many people believe that dogs are carnivorous animals and so should not be fed with fruits and vegetables. However, dogs are omnivorous just like human beings, and there is nothing wrong in feeding them these foods. You can give your pet dog fruits like oranges, apples, pears, etc. The list of vegetables that can be given to a dog includes peppers, celery, carrots, broccoli, parsley and spinach. You should also feed your pet dog with raw eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc., occasionally.
Many food manufacturing companies have started manufacturing raw foods for dogs that are readily available in the market. However, it is better to avoid these packed raw foods because the methods used to pack these foods may be totally unhygienic. These packed foods may contain additional supplements which may harm the canine. Therefore, it is always better to buy meat from your local butcher. These are not only more healthier, but also much less expensive than the packed ones.
If your gonna give bones and meats to your puppy right from the initial stage . . It is gonna purely depend on it and there are possibilities for a Dog to be rude so soon during its growing stage . .
So it is always better not start feeding a 7-9 Weeks Puppy with Bones and Meats . . But you can give him other materials available in pet shop which are almost similiar to bones that your pup would love to chew ..
What i would to my 2 months pup is just milk and some Curd Rice and it would be very satisfied with it . .
Hope that really helped you ..

There is a booklet on this site with raw recipes formulated by Monica Segal, whose work in canine nutrition is acclaimed world wide. The booklet costs only $7.95 and you can be assured the balance of proteins, carbs, vitamins and minerals is accurate. Guessing what to feed when you feed a raw diet can be detrimental to your dogs health, especially in the senior years, so don't play russian roulette with him and do it right from the beginning.

Is there any support that the raw food diet is successful because of the enzymes in food?
I am quite familiar with healthy eating, raw foodism, and nutrition (working on a B.S. in nutritional science) though my question needs to be answered by someone with far more insight than myself. I understand what enzymes are, how they work, and am a believer in both digestive therapeutic applications. I am also a fan of the raw food diet for the clean, simple, and 'living' factor, but cringe when I read about raw foodists 'selling' the notion that eating raw foods will increase enzyme activity in the body. As far as I know, our body starts producing enzymes in the form of amylase as soon as we begin to salivate for food. The harsh environment of the stomach denatures most proteins, which includes enzymes. How can we say that the enzymes are still in tact in the stomach on top of saying that they are ready and willing to help break down the foods that they let sit so nicely in front of us before they were consumed? Is there any support that the raw food diet is successful because of the enzymes in food?
Well, this is really an interesting question...and a good one too!
Eating raw food can be beneficial in that the food content is still fresh and has not deteriorate or converted to other compounds. Also bacterial activity has not taken a great foothold.
Certain things that should be aware of:
Not all fresh food are useful, some contain enzymes that can cause bowel irritation, some can be toxic. Also, there are foods that are sprayed with pesticides or preservatives.
Yes, stomach acids and other digestive enzymes may also destroy certain enzymes in raw foods.
I think it is important to maintain a certain balance when we think of a good and healthy diet. People may also have allergies to enzymes in raw food, or develop long term allergies to rwa food.Is there any support that the raw food diet is successful because of the enzymes in food?
Can't help you with this, but I will say that eating raw meat is nasty and is crawling with parasites, and I am sorry but the acids in our stomach cannot kill these parasites. Therefore they will travel all over you body until they reach your brain. Other things raw such and fruits and some vegetables I can understand the benefit of eatin that raw and unprocessed and un cooked....but this girl is not eating no raw, rare mean....ever heard of salmonella. Is there any support that the raw food diet is successful because of the enzymes in food?
First Amylase only breaks down carbohydrates. Second the stomach doesn't break down all enzymes. However...when you get to your advanced human nutrition classes you will learn more about this.
This diet works because of the fiber of fruits and vegetables. It basically goes right through you and has little calories as it it. Fiber has been known to grab cholesterol and soem other fats and pull them from the body. If people live off of fruits and vegetables they will lose weight because there is very few calories in them and they "go through you" pretty fast.
I wouldn't promote this diet as a nutritionist. People who are on this diet will lack the fat soluable vitamins such as A, D and E. They will get K from their dark leafy veggies. Their protein stores will be depleted unless they are somehow supplemently their protein. They will have a vitamin b12 deficiency as well as Zinc. Muscle can start to break down also. When people ask you about this diet, you need to explain that glucose is the primary fuel for the brain and lacking this will make people more groggly and not as focuses, plus mention about all the vitamins they will be missing out on.pf changs locations

The amount of raw food you give should amount to about 1-3% of the dog's total body weight. Abby's sites are also very helpful.

How to start the Raw Food Diet?
I want to start this diet. I've done so much research and learned so many awesome things about it but I still feel like I need direction. I was wondering if you can start the raw food diet by just eating non-organic fruits and veggies. I would by the organic but it's to pricey for me.
Is it okay to try the diet and just eat:
bananas
oranges
apples
grapes
clemetines
strawberries
kiwi fruit
carrots
broccoli
What do you think about Naked Smoothies? How to start the Raw Food Diet?
To be successful on the Raw Food diet you are going to need to eat way more than what you have listed. You need more variety. Everything you listed is good but you NEED protein too. Try adding to what you have:
Leafy greens
seaweed
raw nuts (soaked first)
mushrooms
beans
lentils
pinapple
watermelon
dates
raw honey
super foods (goji, raw cacao, chia etc)
zucchni
nutritional yeast
(vitamin B12 suppliment)
tomatoes
peppers
onions
garlic
Any other fruits and veggies you can get your hands on. You can start with nonorganic if that's what you need to do.
Good luck.
Keep your doctor informed so you can monitor your health. How to start the Raw Food Diet?
No.
For one thing, you'd get bored and quit within a week.
For another, your diet contains no fat, which in addition to being what makes you feel full, is necessary for assimilation of certain nutrients.
Add some raw nuts and avocados, and some leafy greens.
The best books to start with are "Raw Food Made Easy" by Jennifer Cornbleet, and "The Complete Book of Raw Food" by Lori Baird and Julie Rodwell. Both have good recipes that don't require specialty equipment, and "The Complete Book of Raw Food" is packed with information and resources. How to start the Raw Food Diet?
its quite fine but you have to add more proteinsHow to start the Raw Food Diet?
Yes you cn eat non-organic on a raw food diet and it's better than not eating any fruit or veggies. Citrus, avocados, pineapple for example rarely have pesticides found on them. The raw food diet is more than a diet. You make your own choices such as you have here. But yur list is sorely lacking in vegetables and greens. Fruits do have plenty of protein and are loaded with vitamins and some minerals that are high in antioxidants for example and lots of other good things. But vegetables and greens are high in minerals and some vitamins. All plants have omega-3 but greens have the most. You want to eat plenty of greens to soak your body's tissue in omega-3s. there is so much omega-6 in our diets and they compete for positions in cells with Omega-3. This cause a lot of our immune problems and auto-immune diseases. Definitely eat everything on your lists-- that is good but make sure to add any vegetables you like and especially greens-- romaine, red leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce, kale, curly kale, spinach etc. You can put them in fruit smoothies, juice them and make huge salads. You're definitely on the right track. I cured myself of breast cancer, fibromyalgia and a long list of health problems 11 years ago and I'm in perfect health still today. Nurse Sue

What is the hardest part of a raw food diet?
I'm trying a raw food diet, and I'm finding it really hard. I'd really appreciate your story and what you found hard or easy about the raw food diet.
I'm new to this so anything would help me out in sticking to this diet.
Thank youWhat is the hardest part of a raw food diet?
The beginning! Stay focused and assure yourself that you are doing this for good cause. Grab a few inspirational books or articles on success stories of people gone raw.
Temptations, cravings, hunger pangs, and even emotional memories associated with "bad" foods will drive you nuts in the beginning, but they become fewer and farther between. Accept these feelings instead of fighting them, and then move on to the next day. As you go further down the road of raw, those bad foods will become almost nauseating, really!!
Not having the warmth of heated foods going down your pipes. This should pass soon.
Detox symptoms. If you are very toxic, these may be extreme. If you ever find yourself having symptoms that you cannot handle, cook yourself some steamed veggies or a baked sweet potato. This sops or slows down the detoxing effect and will enable you to carry on the next day. Know that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that the grass IS greener on the other side!!!
One of the hardest parts for me was watching all the videos on raw food chefs making a myriad of wonderful meals, knowing that my kitchen and my funds could not support this eloquent way of "un"-cooking. This is when I realized that the best path to rawness is keeping it simple. I also learned that if you can't afford organic foods all the time, find a list of foods that are usually safe if not bought organic.
Good luck! What is the hardest part of a raw food diet?
Many people consider that the most challenging aspects of raw dieting are fighting food cravings and learning how to deal with social situations when you're raw and can't eat traditional food.
Most people aren't born into raw households, so they eventually transition to raw diets sometime in their adulthood. By the time you are an adult, you're likely to have a bunch of food addictions - either to carbonated drinks, cookies, chocolate, chips, coffee, pizza, or whatever else you just can't imagine yourself living without. Not consuming any of these for a very long time will usually generate a feeling of craving for that specific food.Luckily, there are ways to beat food addictions and to adjust yourself to social situations where the others aren't raw. The resources i mentioned might give you an idea of what they are. What is the hardest part of a raw food diet?
im currently a vegan, and i have tried the raw vegan diet for a week but i found it really difficult. mostly because i dont know how to cook, and raw food diets require creativity when i comes to making meals. i lack any sort of creativity. also, as im probably the poorest person i know, it costs quite a bit getting a large variety of raw recipes. for that week, i relied heavily on water, lettuce, and cucumber. the only good thing is, i lost quite a bit of weight from my diet. What is the hardest part of a raw food diet?
Im doing the same, but im juicing all my fruits and vegitables. Its easier to get down and mixing the fruit into the drinks takes the bad vegitable flavor away somewhat so its really doable. Im a hardcore meat and potatoes guy. All I eat, along with bread and cheese. So going from that to this, juicing wasnt to bad.
I am on my 12th day and im down 15lbs and I feel better, sleep better, no more snoring, more energy so im not always in the lazy mood, being a diabetic type1 I noticed my blood sugar is lower and more in control, and the amounf of insulin I take a day is lower by half already.
You will be hungry alot when you start, and you will crave so many foods also, but just no that your supposed to drink (if you juice it) up ti 8-12 16oz cups of whatever you feel like juicing. If you eat then make sure you eat enough as well.
If you feel sick or bad doing this, dont think that what your doing is bad or raw food is bad, its just all the **** inside your body like parasites etc acting up because they no longer have processed crap to feed off of. And they are pissed about it. You will need to crap alot also, because the diet will fluch all your bad left over crap away. So prepare lol.
To be honest though, cooking all your vegitables and eating fish isnt bad either, its incredibly healthy. No need to go to the EXTREME and just eat raw this and that. Just cut the processed fave packages **** at the store.
Think about this, why are humans so sick today compared to hunter gatherers of the past? Look at the diets. In fact compare us today and our diets to any civilization in the past before the invention of wheat.
The hardest part is surviving

Think about this, why are humans so sick today compared to hunter gatherers of the past? Look at the diets. In fact compare us today and our diets to any civilization in the past before the invention of wheat.
The hardest part is surviving
