Are there any stores that sell packaged raw food diets for dogs?

I know all the websites that you can buy from and have it shipped to you, but I'd like to actually go out and buy it myself. I was wondering if anyone knows if there are places that supply it?Are there any stores that sell packaged raw food diets for dogs?
Some of the bigger chain pet shops do; call your local ones and ask.



I cannot recommend feeding any of the commercial varieties of meat-flavored baked paste with chemicals added. Commercially-prepared raw diets are not much better; they are full of cellulose filler. Instead, why not feed your dog actual food? The dog鈥檚 natural diet is raw meat on the bone. Try it. The dog will love it, the diet will help him teethe properly as a pup, keep his teeth clean the rest of his life, satisfy his lifelong need to chew and results in innocuous feces.

The basic idea is to approximate a wild diet as closely as possible; raw meat on the bone and small amounts of organ meat [liver is most important, but also kidneys, pancreas, spleen, lungs and what is called green tripe]. Amount to feed is calculated as 2-3% of the dog's ideal adult body weight. Your veterinarian can help you estimate that; then you just do the math. You don鈥檛 have to be exact; all amounts are to be averaged over a week or two. Dogs [not toys or puppies] that get big, complicated meals sometimes will eat for two days and then not again for five. All perfectly normal.



Most raw feeders that I've read have started their dogs on chicken: it is readily available and inexpensive, plus it is antibiotic- and hormone-free. The fat content is easy to control by how much of the skin you remove.



No grain, vegetable or fruit is a significant part of a grey wolf's diet. Dogs are genetically grey wolves.

Many of the websites should have store locators. I haven't seen commercial raw at many pet supply chains, besides Pet Supplies Plus, so I recommend checking out independently owned, "mom and pop" stores that specialize in natural food.



Commercial raw is very pricey, though, so if you do have the time for homemade raw, I would go with that.
Pet Supplies Plus does, and I'm told Petco does, but I've never seen any at my local store.



Your best bet is to go to a local pet store, preferably one that sells mainly natural diets. See if they have it there. Or, you could go to the website for Primal, Nature's Variety or another premade raw diet, and see if they have a store locator.Are there any stores that sell packaged raw food diets for dogs?
Yes. There's one in my area called the Natural Pet Center. But really, it's overpriced, has preservatives and other stuff dogs don't need. I suggest buying raw meats and veggies. I spend about $25 a mont for two dogs at an Asian food store here.
I get meat for my dogs from the butchers, you cant usually get cuts of meat that the butcher doesn't want to sell for free or very cheap. I go to my butcher at the end of the day and he gives me the stuff he hasn't used.Are there any stores that sell packaged raw food diets for dogs?
