Is raw food actually bad for you?

Japanese people eat it alot and they are the healthiest people. Is raw food actually bad for you?
Actually, raw is supposedly the healthiest food for you. Of course it all depends what you're talking about. I don't think you want raw chicken, but raw fruits and veges give you the most for your health and weight. I recently came upon some extremely interesting information about weight and heath. The article discusses such topics as sodium intake and benefits of raw foods. It's really good. Have a look :)Is raw food actually bad for you?
its not bad for you, no.

~~Maddy
Depends...

Raw broccoli good. Raw chicken bad.Is raw food actually bad for you?
raw foods are full of germs... the only way to kill them is cooking
depends on the foodIs raw food actually bad for you?
Well, it depends on what you are eating raw. Certain things are okay raw, and others are not.

Hope I helped!
Raw vegetables are fine, but ALL meat is a health hazard if not cooked properly.
Raw Japanese food good, Road kill not so good.
not really. as long as you know its fresh and it came from a reputable source, you can eat raw food. japanese people are very clean, thats why. try visiting japanese specialty shops and gourmet shops to get fresh goods.
It depends...

ON the

Type of Food

How well it's cleaned

How it's grown (pesticides)

ETC.
raw food could mess up your body and could even kill someone.it could really make someone sick. it could give you ecoli. if you eat raw chicken it could give you salmonella.
Some raw food is not good for you. For example, raw chicken would be a really bad thing to eat. The raw fish in sushi is prepared in ways that make it less likely to make you sick. They don't just grab a fish out of the water, wack it on the head, roll it in rice and give it to you. It has to be frozen for a period of time and everything.

I'd also like to know where you got this idea that Japanese people are the "healthiest" people. There are many very healthy nations and groups in the world. It has way more to do with overall diet and exercise than any one factor, like eating raw or cooked food.

Also, not all Japanese food is sushi. There are plenty of cooked Japanese dishes including rice, noodles, soups and meat.
sushi is okay, but raw meats are not, and cultures that consume fish 4-6 times per week are usually much healthier than cultures that do not, thus fish is an excellent source of protein, and omega 3 acids of which naturally control cholesterol levels within the blood...but don't think you have to eat sushi for health, any baked, broiled, or grilled fish is just as good...
With proper care, raw food can be eaten without encountering any problems. The problem with the US supplies is that there are people who only care about the money involved and don't really give a crap about who eats it. or it passes through many hands on the way to you. This can lead to less than desireable food handling control, which can make it unwise to consume it without cooking.

Having spend a couple of years in Korea and visiting other Asian countries as well, demonstrated to me that they have problems with their food also. Take susi, some varities, if not prepared and handled properly will kill you. On the other hand I ate a wide variety of raw food, almost entirely from the sea and always very fresh. But again we were on the sea at a major port and the locals knew what had to be done and what was safe.

So take a chance if you like, but I would advise against it.
depends, what raw food it is and where it came from and who was handling it before it got to you
it REALLY depends on what kind of food it is and often where it came from. Raw vegetables are usually just fine. The US has laws about keeping fruits and vegetables sterile, but it think in Mexico they don't. but raw meat is usually a bad idea, especially chicken, which contains salmonella poisoning and can make you VERY sick if you don't cook it thoroughly. Lots of the meat in japanese food is cleaner than most other meat, but not always. I know that raw salmon in general, unless it's extremely fresh, will make you dangerously sick. It's because of harmful bacteria that grow in it.
