Benefits of Raw Food Diets/Lifestyle?

I was just wondering, how raw food is healthier than it cooked.

Also what are some of your favorite raw meals, other than the obvious veggies and fruits?Benefits of Raw Food Diets/Lifestyle?
Raw vegan food is healthier because it retains all its nutrients, minerals, enzymes and vitamins, which in turn you digest.

When you cook food at above a certain temperature, most of the nutrients, minerals, enzymes and vitamins get destroyed.

We may be speaking a different language here but I have to comment on some of the other replies:

Things like yogurt, cheese, tofu, cream cheese and raspberry jam, are NOT considered raw.

Yes, they were originally raw in their basic state but....... during the process of turning the raw ingredients into yogurt, cheese, tofu, cream cheese and raspberry jam, they were all heated / cooked / pasteurised (heat treated)

Unless sucking milk directly from a cows udder, milk is not raw because they pasteurise (heat treat) it to make it suitable for sale. Same goes for things like yogurt, cheese, tofu and cream cheese.

To make raspberry jam you boil raspberries and sugar at high temperatures.

I LOVE the raw desserts (raw pumpkin pie), see above websites for ideas.

Not all raw food is healthier (e.g., tomatoes are healthier when cooked). Aside from veggies and fruits, my favorite raw items are grains (including oatmeal), yogurt, cheese, seeds, nuts, cereal, and tofu.
there is a middle-eastern food called "kibbee ni" . It is raw lamb prepared with pine nuts and I don't know what else but , you talk about GOOD ! Generally the more raw you can eat food, the better because you don't "cook out" the good stuff.Benefits of Raw Food Diets/Lifestyle?
Some foods are healthier raw because over-cooking can cause the food to lose some of the nutrients. Most of the time, though, just steaming veggies won't hurt them. Also most recipes call for peeled fruits/veggies,and a lot of the vitamins are in the peel.

My fav raw recipe is fruit pizza. Make a plain pizza crust, spread with cream cheese and/or rasberry jam, then layer kiwi, strawberries, peaches, or any favorite fruit on top. Slice up and serve!
their are many reasons that it is healthier but the main reason why people(me) who follow this diet is. The enzymes in the food....when u cook food it kills the enzymes, vitamins, amino acids ...enzymes are the building blocks of food which allow to digest and use the vitamins in the food. Cooked food is deprived in vitamins, enzymes and amino acids depending on how you cook it it can become even more toxic because of the chemicals released when cooking with it.

Tomatoes do not have more vitamins from cooking them that is silly....however tomatoes do benefit from being canned and frozen because it allows more of the antioxidants to be released.

cheese is not a raw food nor is milk products or any product with preservatives like sugar, sulfites .ect

the benefits are

more energy less time sleeping

better sleeping

clearer thought

better skin

better hair

faster muscle development

being more healthy and so on.

my favourite raw food is raw apple pie and mango smoothies, and guacamole.

Diet ethics and spiritual awareness of intellectual people will evolve in the following way towards the end of the world....

Paleolithic diet

Carnivorous / Cannibalism

Omnivorous diet

Vegetarian

Vegan

Raw vegan

**Fruitarian**

Breatharian

**From Eden we fell.. and now back to Eden all shall rise. The scriptures of several religions recommend fruitarian diet. Genesis l:29, the Garden of Eden, for Christians, Jews, Moslems.. the Ramayana for the Hindus in which Rama is described as eating a fruitarian (phalahari) diet 14 years in the forest, the writings of Isaiah. There are copious references to fruit in the Quran. Buddhists whose prayer is "May all t have life be delivered from suffering" have fruitarianism in the Pali, Dhammapada, and other sacred texts. Jains whose founder Mahavir preached reverence for all living beings have fruitarianism in their scriptures as well.

Omnivorous diet : One level above Cannibalism

Raw Food (Raw Vegan) : One level below Fruitarian diet

Good luck!
