If you're doing the raw food thing, can you have almonds?

well i think all almonds have cyanide

and have to be heated before they can be sold.

i don't know what temperature they have to be heated to though.

so can people who are doing the raw food thing, have almonds?

There is a marked difference between "Sweet and Bitter Almonds" :

Bitter almonds are the ones that cause problems---not the sweet variety.

So, plant *sweet almond* trees, pick %26amp; eat your own almonds...

No legal need to pasteurize home-grown produce! If you're doing the raw food thing, can you have almonds?
There are two main types of almonds, the sweet variety we eat raw or roasted, and the bitter variety which is poisonous if not properly handled. It's used to make almond extract and is almost never eaten in the US. I have seen French recipes that call for them to flavor things.

I ate one by mistake a few years ago (pilfered it from a tree so I guess I got what I deserved) and it didn't make me sick but it put a nasty taste in my mouth for a long time. Not recommended.
Raw almonds are great addition to your diet. You can have them alone, salted, roasted etc. Or you can sprinkle over your favorite fruit/green salads.

Fresh raw almonds can be used safely if you are not allergic to any nuts. Fresh almonds do not contain any cyanide. If you're doing the raw food thing, can you have almonds?
Actually they are heated because of salmonella scares and yes you have to buy raw almonds online or at the grower, illegal in most states to buy raw almonds commercially.

They are only meant to be eaten lightly though.
of course they can. Almonds can be eaten right after being picked, so I'm not sure what this cynadide is all about. I'm on a raw food diet and I eat themIf you're doing the raw food thing, can you have almonds?
As long as it's not pasteurized. It's all good :) You should soak them too!
