If you feed your dog raw meat and raw food in general, do you also eat it yourself?

I know that some people rave about raw chicken backs and wings and such for their dogs but do they also eat these things themselves or feed it to their children?

If not, why not?

One theory is that dogs and humans became 'domesticated' together so that dogs are as close to 'wild' as humans are. In that case, perhaps humans should be on a raw chicken back and chicken wing diet?If you feed your dog raw meat and raw food in general, do you also eat it yourself?
Yes, but humans discovered fire and can cook their food, dogs never did that.If you feed your dog raw meat and raw food in general, do you also eat it yourself?
I think a dog is more suited to digest raw meat then you are. Giving it to your children is probably not a good idea but who am I
.Yes, I eat raw meat... generally only beef though.... and yes.. it weirds my family out *shrug*

oh.. and sushi :-) yay! sashimi!!

*MY* intestines cannot process raw chicken... but the dog's can... and sadly my teeth are not designed for chicken bones. If you feed your dog raw meat and raw food in general, do you also eat it yourself?
i know a guy that eats raw hamburgur it grossed me out but also in italy i know they feed the dogs there veg and cooked meat chicken would not be a good thing to feed your dog raw beef probably well the guy that eats raw burger he is healthey and strong i feed my rot bunifulll from purina
I do feed my dog raw. Humans and dogs have very different immune systems. We don't vaccinate ourselves against Parvo, dogs can't catch the human flu virus. Dogs' immune systems are capable of handling bacteria such as salmonela that would make humans ill. In addition thier stomach acids are much stronger than ours, that's one of the ways they are able to digest the bones. I try to find organic and all natural meats for my dog when I can as I don't think the antibiotics and preservatives are good for them.

I do enjoy sushi on occassion, but wouldn't trust myself to make it :) That's about as far as I go with my personal raw diet.If you feed your dog raw meat and raw food in general, do you also eat it yourself?
As both a raw feeder and a mother I find your comments offensive and riduculous on so many levels.

Would you let your children live on nothing but McDonalds, KFC, chips and cakes? Have you seen the statistics on childhood and adult obesity? Multi-national corporations have no respect for human nutritional needs, what makes you think they care about our dogs?

I choose to feed both my children and my animals a varied and wholesome diet that is suited to their particular species.

I do not feed my children pre-packaged and processed foods for every meal. I choose lean meat, fresh fruit and vegetables and wholegrain products wherever possible. We try to avoid artificial sweeteners and colourings and are conscious of trying to maintain a healthy balance. This does not mean that we are fanatics - just trying to do the right thing by our children (and ourselves).

Likewise I do not feed my animals pre-packaged and processed foods. Luckily they don't seem to have noticed the fast food commercials or feel deprived by not being fed salty, mushy, fatty crap ocassionally.

While dogs may have been domesticated for eons - the commercial petfood industry was only started in the last century as a way for the new pre-packaged human food industry to be able to use their waste products and make even more profit.

This so called 'new fangled' raw food lobby is merely returning to the way humans have always fed their canine friends.

** I agree that 'offended' is over the top and can only say that your question got me on a bad hair day. I apologise.

I would like to add that I came to the decision to feed my meat-eating pets (cats, dog and turtles) as naturally as possible after a LOT of research both online and at the library.

PS - I do like my steak medium rare but can't stomach the thought of eating offal :)
I thought you weren't supposed to feed dogs raw meat. I thought it could give them worms. Also, I thought it would make them more likely to kill other animals(have a desire for blood). I wouldn't do this. Besides, chicken bones can kill them...get lodged in their stomachs...especially that little long bone on the side of the drumstick. It can puncture their stomach because they can't chew it and it's made of something that doesn't dissolve well. This is just what I always heard.
I've seen a dog eat its own feces. I think they love raw chicken.
That's ridiculous.. We don't have the same stomach acid that a dog has.. They can eat things that wouldn't bother them much but would kill us very quickly..

Your theory is 1/2 baked!
No...unless you want to be deathly sick..
That's pretty silly. Humans digestion works differently from dogs. It moves much more slowly so "bad" bacteria can colonize and make us sick.

It think the raw food for people was called the "caveman diet"
My dog eats raw. I cook my food. Meat with bones ground in is label "not for human consumption". Dogs are able to digest raw bones and people cannot. People cook their food to kill bacteria that our bodies cannot destroy by digestion and also to make it more palatable.

If you feed your dog kibble, do you eat kibble yourself? Do you feed your child dog kibble? I didn't think so.
