I'm planning on going on a raw food diet. I've done my research but I'm concerned about the lack of calcium in the diet. I would like to continue drinking some skim milk. I'm not a big fan of meat and I do like nuts and legumes. Could I have some recommendations for some healthy, low-fat nuts or legumes? Thanks.Going on a raw food diet?
There is a reasonable amount of calcium in almonds, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts and walnuts but not in peanuts and cashews. The unsaturated fats in nuts are healthy fats and nuts are only fattening if you consume them in large amounts. 50 gm or 2 ounces of nuts per day are not a problem.
Most soy milk is fortified with calcium so that it contains about the same amount of calcium as dairy milk.Going on a raw food diet?
Lots of raw vegetables like spinach and kale are high in calcium.
