I am an overall fit person, I work out regularly and eat pretty good. My question is can you start or undergo a raw food diet without an oven? I know it sounds stupid but like I said I'm new to this. I have a stove-top but no oven. I have a refrigerator and blender and am starting to buy organic fruits and veggies. Do you wash your fruit if it's organic? Any good websites or books to get started with? Anyone that can help would be awesome. Thanks.I want to start a raw food lifestyle...I need help!?
I eat raw, of course its possible without an oven, what do you need that for???
Some people like to dehydrate their food in the oven, but I never get that far.
The raw food website I use is livingfoods.com
but to be honest, I don't really use cooking books much I just think of something and eat it.
I love raw. Lately I have been doing a ton of legume soaking, and eating the sprouted grains- this is one of the best foods you can put in your body as it is the emodiment of a living food.
Soak chickpeas or green peas in clean water, keep refreshing the water for four day sor so, and eat like that, they taste so good, very midly crunchy, but mainly soft and so tasty.
I buy organic sometimes, I usually peel fruit, but wash it, if it's strawberries or whatever.
Organic is the same, I wash it, too, that word doesn't mea much about poop on the stuff, so I wash or peel most things.
I never use a blender but that's because I rather eat my food that drink it.
urrent;y am having a lot of dates, peanuts, walnuts, zucchini, tomatoes, apples and mashed green cauliflour, as weel as brusel sprouts and papaya. I DO blanch a few things- like I will blacnh green peas to make them hot and they pop so sweetly like that, the contrast is good too, on the salad they taste so good when warm.
FWIW if you use dates in your smoothies, you will NEVER go back, the dates make it sweet creamy, SO smooth and omg delicious. It is kind of my secret weapon-= the raw date inside a dish of something. You can make the best chocolate bars and granola bars by using dates....mmm.I want to start a raw food lifestyle...I need help!?
U don't need oven or anything...although some picky raw-eaters have dehydrators , which i don't consider raw at all. I eat raw aswell, it really feels good. My favorite is to let lentils soak in water over night(or whatever beans you have) and then, since i love spicey food, i make a salsa and mix it through the lentils, and finally i grab some romaine lettuce or whatever green and wrap up my raw burrito!I want to start a raw food lifestyle...I need help!?
If you're becoming a raw foodist, the last thing you need to worry about is an oven.
You won't need it.
One thing that I've come to notice...I went 99% raw- I was still drinking coffee though. The thing about that is that when you drink coffee when everything else you're consuming is raw, the caffeine hits you hard. While I'm eating cooked foods it doesn't. Just thought I'd mention that.
I'm eating 100% raw as of now.
I've read a bit from this guy, he's helpful: http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/2008/02鈥?/a>I want to start a raw food lifestyle...I need help!?
Check out this great site for raw food information

I thought a raw food diet meant no cooking.
