Does raw food cause animals to poop less?

My cat just started the raw food diet about a week ago or so and doesn't poop nearley as much as she used to on her medicated food. Is this bad?Does raw food cause animals to poop less?
Quality foods free of grains and 'junk' will cause a cat to poop less, and that includes raw diets. There is less waste, so the food is digested, and the result is smaller and fewer poops.Does raw food cause animals to poop less?
Ignore angeloneus. Cats are designed to digest raw meat, not all the grains in pet food. They are also designed to kill bacteria. Their saliva kill basteria, they have stronger stomach acid and they have shorter digestive tracts so the bacteria that they dont kill doesn't have enough time to do any damage.
A balanced raw diet is the best thing you can feed a cat.

To answer your question, yes, cats do poop less when fed raw because they digest most of it. Cats that are fed commercial pet food eat a lot of undigestible things like grain, fruits and veggies so they just poop out all of those grain, fruits and veggies.

One of my cats gets half canned and half raw. The other gets 75% raw and 25% canned. They only poop every 2-3 days.
Angelone- study nutrition before you spread false information to people.

Yes, raw diet will create less waste. The reason being, they are able to use the majority of the food they are consuming, whereas commercial foods contain a large amount of indigestible material include corn, grains, rice, etc. It will not hurt your cat to poop less, and the raw diet is high in moisture which is wonderful for their urinary systems. You made a good decision to switch her, and not only will she be healthier now, you'll have less poop to scoop!Does raw food cause animals to poop less?
Raw food is a bad idea on many levels. Bacteria, parasites, viral diseases, spoilage, imbalance, more difficult to digest, expense....the argument that it is more 'natural'

doesn't hold water, if you want natural get 3 mice a day and feed your cat that, cats evolved eating those so they are the perfect food source for a cat. If she was previously on medicated food, I am sure your vet had a reason for putting her on it. Why don't you talk with your vet about this for options?
Yes.

My own cats eat both canned food and raw, usually about 2/3 canned to 1/3 raw meals. On those occasions they have gone without canned for a few days and had a 100% raw diet the volume of their feces became much less with a drier consistency.

It is normal.

Something else you will note is that the amount of food your cat needs decreases as well. The reason is probably that they are using more of the calories in the raw food, but that is really just my guess.Does raw food cause animals to poop less?
Totally normal. I know some dogs on raw that only poop every other day.
