Should i start a raw food diet?

I've heard a lot about raw food diets recently and I'm just wondering do they actually work,i mean can they cure and prevent all diseases?and do they give you more energy and some how improve your mental health?I've heard stories of raw food diets some how curing people of cancer and such and then others saying its a complete load of crap

so what I'm trying to ask is is it worth my while to start a raw food diet?Should i start a raw food diet?
Not all raw diets are the same, most "raw" diets consist of tons of powders and supplements, nuts, seeds, oils, etc.

The best raw diet is 80/10/10rv, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, check out Dr. Graham's book the 80/10/10 diet, you won't regret it. I know what I'm about to say might sound crazy, but if you read 80/10/10 you'll find answers to all your questions.

He advocates a diet of organic, fresh, whole fruit with 2-6% of your calories coming from organic, fresh, whole leafy green vegetables. He reccomends only eating overt fats(nuts, seeds, avocados) in very small amounts, once in a while(like a handful of nuts/seeds or half an avocado every 3-4 days). He also stresses that food is just one part of the equation, exercise, sunshine, fresh air, sleep, relaxation, and a positive outlook on life are just as important. If you're looking for a quick fix by taking some powder or supplement or whatever, this is NOT what you're looking for. If you're striving for perfect health and happiness, this IS what you're looking for.

Many diseases and illnesses are not related to eating cooked food but eating too much fat, too much protein, or too little carbs. 80/10/10 means 80+ of your calories come from carbs, 10% or less from fat, and 10% or less from protein.

Please read 80/10/10 before you read anything else about raw food, people like David Wolfe, Fred Bisci and Matt Monarch have some good information here and there, but they neglect to tell you the whole story(for instance, they'll tell you b12 is important and seaweed has b12...but the b12 from seaweed is noncobalamin, which means our bodies can't use it, what's more, it inhibits absorbtion of the b12 our bodies make) and their main concern is selling you super foods and supplements, not your health, most raw food diets have more fat than the SAD diet. Too much fat, whether cooked or raw, unnatural or natural is still too much fat, and which would you be more naturally inclined to eat? Sweet, juicy fruit...or nuts and seeds that you would have a hard time eating and wouldn't taste nearly as good? Powders aren't super foods, dehydrate a banana and it will have crazy high nutrients too, but it will lack in other areas.

lo_mcg - have you read 80/10/10 and tried it for yourself?Should i start a raw food diet?
No a raw food diet does not cure or prevent all disease; anyone who tells you a raw food diet cures cancer (or prevents it, or causes it, or treats it or affects its progress in any way) is seriously deluded or is lying to you. There is no food or particular diet proven to do any of this.

One thing is for sure - they have never cured their own cancer or seen anyone else cured of cancer by a raw food diet. It is ALWAYS hearsay and/or something they saw on the internet and swallowed whole.

I used to follow a largely raw vegan diet. It was the period of my life when I felt healthiest - this is almost certainly because when eating raw all processed food is avoided and vast quantities of fresh fruit and vegetables are consumed.

It didn't stop me getting cancer though; and I'd be very foolish to rely on it preventing recurrence or metastasis if I adopted such a diet again.

Only you can decide whether it's worth it for you; but whatever you do don't rely on it to prevent serious diseases, much less cure them.
A raw food diet is terrific for certain conditions, but nothing cures and prevents all diseases.

If you currently suffer from a chronic ailment like UC, IBS, Chrohn's, migraines, allergies, depression, etc. then raw food is certainly worth a try. Most people do report better concentration, and almost all who try raw food experience increased energy.

It all depends on your situation.Should i start a raw food diet?
Raw foods aggravate the stomach, and cause bloating. There's no need to go raw. Being a vegan, and eating only organic foods, is the best diet you can follow.

Make sure you get a lot of variety, and include nuts daily.
Oh heavens no! Cooked is best!Should i start a raw food diet?
i dont think it does all that but it is healthy and u should
