No Im not 4 either. Ive just never heard of feeding a cat raw food and I just wanted to make sure that's what they were meaning as "raw" food.So "Raw" food of any kind is better to feed a kitten then hard and soft kitten food?
Read your other question, I linked you good information about all the benefits of feeding raw. It really is the best way to go. Cat's digest raw meat perfectly fine because their digestive tract is shorter than a human's, and the bacteria commonly associated with eating raw meat cannot cultivate. I linked you 2 yahoo groups devoted to the subject, and several websites that will help you learn to prepare and store raw meat for feeding if you choose. There are also several excellent foods available on the market that come darn close to raw feeding. Please, if you notice, people on here comment without having a clue what they are talking about. I hope you do your own research as well and learn the truth. Best of luck!!!So "Raw" food of any kind is better to feed a kitten then hard and soft kitten food?
Umm no do not feed the cat raw meat unless it's a tiger or lion, have you ever seen anyone feeding their cat raw meat? No. So just feed it cat food it won't hurt it. Cat food is made for a cat for a reason, and ppl for is made for people. Do not give it raw meat and vegetables unless you wanna make it sicker. So "Raw" food of any kind is better to feed a kitten then hard and soft kitten food?
No. Don't feed your kitten raw food. Raw meat can have all types of bacteria in it and your kitten may not be able to fight it off and it can seriously hurt him/her. Kitten food was created for a reason. If you're really worried about giving your kitten Whiska's brand kitten food, go to your vet and they will have special kitten food that you can only get through them that's 100% safe. But normal kitten food should be perfectly fine for them.So "Raw" food of any kind is better to feed a kitten then hard and soft kitten food?
For those who are so very critical of a raw diet for cats - are you aware that in the wild cats never cook their mice, birds, and baby bunnies before they eat them? Nature intended for predators to eat their prey raw.
Feeding a raw diet is more than plunking down a piece of raw chicken, it requires research or purchasing of a commercially prepared raw diet. If you don't want to go to that expense or effort, the next best thing is to feed your cat a grain-free, all meat diet - canned. Some examples of good canned foods would be Innova's EVO, Wellness Core, most of the flavors of regular Wellness, Blue Buffalo Wilderness, and Natural Instinct. This is as close as you're going to get to raw feeding without actually feeding raw.
Dry food is really not the best thing to feed any cat or kitten. Dry food was created not for the health of our pets - it's for our convenience. It's now linked to such feline disorders as diabetes, obesity, constipation, urinary tract disorders, and kidney disease. Feeding your kitten a canned diet prevents future health issues!
I hadn't heard of raw feeding either until I joined this site and started asking questions. Once I heard of it, I did extensive research and have come to the conclusion that a raw diet is best for both dogs and cats.
I feed my 2 cats raw food and have been since Jan '09. I purchase their food from http://mypetcarnivore.com and the food is frozen solid. All food I purchase consists of approx. 75%-80% muscle meat, 10%-15% organs, 5%-10% bone and blood. The food is basically the ground up carcass of the animal. So most birds are defeathered, beheaded and disemboweled. The rest of the carcass is put in a grinding machine and ground either coarsely or finely. It's then packaged and frozen.
