They purchase their meat from Taylor Pond Farms. This raw meat consists of only muscle meat, organs, bone and blood. I've been feeding raw since Jan '09 and purchasing from mpc. I am very satisfied so far. You'll have to try out different meats to see what your cats like. I've tried turkey, chicken, beef, deer, fish, duck. My cats did not like beef and fish. Only one will try a bit of deer.



The initial prices will be somewhat high. My first few months costs $75-$100 per month since they were eating alot. But they have been slowing down every month so now I'm down to a steady $30-$50. I expect them to eat even less and my costs go down to $25-$45 per month. For the month of August, my purchase was $52.10, which includes a $10 delivery fee. So it was actually $42.10 and I purchased 18 lbs of food and still had about 4-6 lbs of food left from July's purchase.What is the best raw food for cats?

I'm not sure about raw food, but I do want to warn you that I was reading up on toxoplasmosis (since I'm trying for a baby soon) which is passed into the kitties feces by eating raw food. It's something that can affect some cats very negatively.
This is not necessarily the best but it what I am doing for now. I buy a supplement mix called Instincts TC made by Feline Future and mix it with meat and liver. I divide up the portions and freeze. Defrost in fridge for about 12 hours then leave at room temp to warm for about an hour. This is the product:

I can't suggest one of the pre-made frozen brands because I haven't tried them.



You might get better information if you go to one of the raw cat food Yahoo groups or raw forums on other sites as you are probably going to get answers here from people telling you to feed the cat friskies or some other junk.

There is someone who actualy feeds her cats mice on YA though and another who's cats hunt their own food.

There is a major raw feeding philosophy concerning the "whole prey model". That is the cat's food should be modeled on an entire rodent or bird carcass.
