I usually take a microwave meal, like a Smart One or Lean Cuisine. I'm going on a raw food diet, so what fruits and vegetables should I take? Also, how can I keep them cold? What to take for lunch on raw food diet?
Sprout some lentils (real easy) and toss on all sorts of veggie salads. Make your own salsa and make yourself a lettuce wrap with avocado, onion, peppers and of course salsa. Another idea is to make zucchini "pasta" by shredding zucchini and top it with homemade pesto. What to take for lunch on raw food diet?
Bananas are not 200 calories..the biggest banana ever would be at most 140
You really shouldn't just jump into a raw food diet if you were used to eating mostly frozen processed foods before. Wean yourself off processed foods, then meat, then dairy. Replacing everything with vegetables is also not the best idea, it takes planning and research to make sure you are still getting all your required nutrients.
I would suggest reading some literature on a raw food diet (there are lots of good books out there and most contain meal ideas and recipes).
That being said, for lunch try putting together some nice salads that include sprouts, nuts, seeds, any vegetables you like. Make your own dressing and pack it on the side (cold-pressed olive oil, lemon juice, pepper/salt, tahini if you want it creamy). This doesn't require much refrigeration, keeping in in a lunch cooler with an icepack should be fine.
If there is a whole foods or raw food supplier somewhere near you, you should be able to find raw breads and crackers (they are basically dehydrated as opposed to baked). You can put these in your salads or use them to make raw sandwiches that you fill with whatever you like (nut butter and banana or berries, tahini and vegetables).
Whole foods also has a line of raw packaged snack foods you can bring along.
Any fruits and vegetables are good. Celery, carrots, corn, tomatoes, apples, pears, grapefruits, avocado, etc. Granola is another 'raw food'. Many stores sell reusable ice packs specifically for taking 'cold lunch'. Check out Target, they even have matching lunch boxes! Good Luck : )What to take for lunch on raw food diet?
Bananas are really easy and portable (some consider them natures "fast" food) they come ready to eat and include their own packaging. At around 100 calories a pop eating a lunch of 8-9 bananas should give you the energy you need to get through the day.
Don't go on the raw food diet. Just eat healthily. The raw food diet is unsustainable in the long run and can lead to pretty serious vitamin deficiencies. What to take for lunch on raw food diet?
